We got a couple Geauxsicles tonight at the (relatively) new gourmet popsicle shop on the corner of Ockley and Youree Drive here in Shreveport. He got a regular ol’ chocolate, and I got lemon and it was SO GOOD. All fresh ingredients, made daily in the shop. Example, mine was made with real lemon, including zest, and it was just a breath of fresh air.

Now I’m sorry I didn’t try it sooner! A half hour later and he says “Let’s go get five more geauxsicles.”

I mean, the service was great, so helpful, and the decor is very nice, modern, but still welcoming. The popsicle itself is flat out pretty. The price is the only thing I didn’t like about the place. But I know that this summer I’ll be spending my money on one at least once a week! I don’t mind paying above average if it’s a great product.

It just makes me happy to see great new things sprouting up!! Yay Shreveport!

Shreveport’s newest restaurant, TWINE, finally opened its doors yesterday. The concept is tea room/bakery/lunch by day, wine bar/table service dinner by night. All I have to say is FRESH FRESH FRESH. Artisan breads.. bagels.. the best bran muffins I’ve had in forever.. pulled pork.. chicken salad.. s’mac-n-cheese.. macaroons.. london teas.. japanese teas.. watermelon and jalapeno steeped water.. Oh, and my ice cream. : )So far I’ve done four flavors for TWINE: Earl Grey, Minty Green Tea, Honey Vanilla Chamomile, and Red Wine. (The red wine is best served with the Chocolate Bang! Bang! flourless cake. You must try this cake. You have to.) The Chamomile is my favorite! For this first month, the hours are M-F 7am-2pm, but starting May 1st, dinner and weekend brunches will begin! Reasonable prices, and the freshest food in town. I know lunch. Trust me on this.1513 Line Ave. (corner of Line and Jordan, bottom floor of the Motor Hotel building.)Shreveport, LAGET THERE.
